1989. Pursuant to Directive 117 of the Rector of Częstochowa University of Technology and after receiving the approval from the Ministry of National Education, the degree course in organization and management of industry was launched at the Faculty of Machine Construction (currently Faculty of Machine Engineering and IT) with the specialization in organization and management of machine-building industry. The person responsible for the degree course was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Machine Construction, dr inż. Waldemar Bachmacz.
October 1989. A group of 28 students commenced studies in the field of industrial organization and management.
1 October 1991. At the Faculty of Machine Construction, pursuant to the Resolution No. 36/91 of the Senate of Częstochowa University of Technology, the Chair of Organization and Management was created and Professor Mieczysław Jerzak from the University of Economics in Katowice was appointed its head.
1992. The Chair of Organization and Management was transformed into the Institute of Management and Marketing with the following three units: the Department of Economics, Department of Finance and Accounting, and the Department of Business Economy and Organization. Professor Mieczysław Jerzak was appointed the Director of the Institute.
1 October 1993. Evening studies were launched. A total of 200 students enrolled in the first year of studies.
20 July 1994. Pursuant to the Directive of the Ministry of National Education, the Institute of Management was created as a fundamental organizational unit with the rights of a faculty. From 1994 to 1996, the Head of the Institute of Management as the fundamental organizational unit was Professor Włodzimierz Brzezin.
1 October 1994. Students started their studies at an independent degree course in management and marketing. Part-time studies were also launched, and 632 students enrolled.
September 1996. Professor Maria Nowicka-Skowron was appointed the Head of the Institute of Management.
December 1996. The Institute of Management was relocated from the Lecturers’ Guest House to the new headquarters in the building of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at Al. Armii Krajowej 19B.
1 June 1997. Pursuant to Directive No. 9 of the Ministry of National Education of 20 May 1997, the Institute of Management was transformed into the Faculty of Management. The first Dean was Professor Maria Nowicka-Skowron.
1997-1998. A modern auditorium of the Faculty of Management with a usable area of 1930 m2 was built. The building was designed by the architect Lech Nowotarski and constructed by CzPBP “Przemysłówka”. The auditorium won the competition “Simply beautiful” organized by Gazeta Wyborcza for the most beautiful newly constructed building.
25 May 1998. By the decision of the Central Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles, the Faculty of Management received the right to confer doctoral degrees in economics in the field of management.
1 October 1998. President of the Republic of Poland, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, officially opened the auditorium of the Faculty of Management.
1999. The publishing house of the Faculty of Management at Częstochowa University of Technology started operating as an organizational unit subject directly to the Dean. The publishing house is responsible for preparing and publishing monographs, scientific journals, conference materials, academic papers and carrying out printing projects commissioned by the Faculty authorities.
21 December 1999. The first doctoral examinations took place. On that day, the doctoral degree was awarded to mgr inż. Marcin Zawada, mgr inż. Janusz Grabara and mgr inż. Edward Chrzan.
2002. Post-graduate studies were launched.
2003. A Long-Distance Teaching Center was established in Będzin, where studies in management and marketing were opened. The Center continued operating until 2015.
2003. The main building of the Faculty of Management was handed over for use.
October 2004. The University of the Third Age was launched at the Faculty of Management at Częstochowa University of Technology with over 800 students representing various occupations.
March 2010. Academic Business Incubators (ABI) belonging to the largest network of academic business incubators in Europe, providing pro-innovative services, started operating at the Faculty of Management. This initiative was aimed at developing entrepreneurship among young Poles.
2010. The Faculty of Management started publishing “The Polish Journal of Management Studies” – an international academic journal that publishes scientific research in various disciplines related to management.
2011. Upon the positive opinion from the Central Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles, the Faculty of Management achieved the right to award the postdoctoral degree in economics in the field of management. Established within the structures of technical universities, the Faculty of Management was the first in Poland to receive such rights.
2011. The Faculty of Management began publishing the interdisciplinary quarterly “Scientific Journal of Częstochowa University of Technology. Management”. It publishes works by both the scientific and teaching staff of the Faculty of Management, as well as Polish and foreign research centers cooperating with the University.
15 June 2011. At the request of the Council of the Faculty of Management, the Senate of Częstochowa University of Technology awarded Professor Marcel Fredericks (Department of Sociology, Loyola University Chicago) the title of doctor honoris causa of Częstochowa University of Technology.
2012. The Advisory Council of Business Representatives at the Faculty of Management was formed, bringing together business leaders, entrepreneurs, and managers, mainly from the Silesian Voivodship.
2012. Doctoral studies were launched at the Faculty of Management.
October 2012. Works on the Internal Education Quality Assurance System were commenced.
22 October 2012. At the request of the Council of the Faculty of Management, the Senate of Częstochowa University of Technology awarded Professor Ryszard Borowiecki the title of doctor honoris causa of Częstochowa University of Technology.
22 March 2013. The final edition of the Entrepreneurship and Management Competition was organized by the Faculty of Management at Częstochowa University of Technology. The competition was addressed to secondary school students all over Poland. Its principal aim was to increase interest in economic issues and to provide additional economic knowledge facilitating the understanding of economic processes.
23 September 2013. Professor Janusz Grabara was awarded the title of doctor honoris causa at Valahia University in Târgoviște (Romania).
Academic year 2013/2014. The Faculty of Management implemented the Internal Education Quality Assurance System.
30 June 2015. The Integrative Centre of Management Development (ICMD), established by the Institute of Enterprise Management and the Institute of Logistics and International Management, started operating at the Faculty of Management. ICMD is a group that affiliates with European scientific institutions that are interested in managing innovations and entrepreneurship in the context of internationalization of enterprises and strengthening relations between science and business.
2 March 2016. At the request of the Council of the Faculty of Management, the Senate of Częstochowa University of Technology conferred the title of doctor honoris causa of Częstochowa University of Technology upon Professor Janusz Szopa.
16 June 2017. Professor Maria Nowicka-Skowron was awarded the title of doctor honoris causa at Szent István University (Szent István Egyetem) in Gödöllő (Hungary).
